Free Painters and Sculptors Winter show 2011
Conflict and Resolution
International terrorism, the global banking crisis, London riots, travelling on the
tube, a hair in your food, running out of toothpaste, toe nails in the bath,
….Conflict and resolution is evident in the severe to the mundane; the macro to
the micro; the serious to the trivial.
Conflict and resolution also represents the artist’s creative process – the mind in
a state of flux, inhabited by the conflict of subject, colour and contrast leading
ultimately to the resolution of the finished work.
November’s show 'Conflict and Resolution' brings together the best of the long
established art group – Free Painters and Sculptors – and demonstrates their
eclectic style in interpreting this unsettling theme.
About FPS
FPS is an eclectic group of painters, printmakers and sculptors whose works
range from the traditional and delicate to the bold and contemporary. All embody
the ethos of the group’s founding principle – namely to be free from the
constraints of populist art movements and fashions.
The group was established in 1952 and was originally associated with the ICA
(Institute of Contemporary Arts). The founding members featured many high
profile and influential artists, including Henry Moore.
During the fifties and sixties it played a significant part in the establishment of
abstract art, the first of a number of post war movements that freed artists from
the orthodoxy of rigid ideals, and became a forerunner of the current
postmodern ideals of free expression.
‘Conflict and Resolution’ marks the penultimate show for FPS before its 60th
anniversary in 2012.

I am posting here one of my earliest paintings… “Alice at mirror” is from a time, when I used to paint only with pastels. I am posting this painting because I would like to talk now of the other side of the mirror…

Yes, recently I felt the urge of feeling magic realism… the beautiful book I have read from García Márquez forced me to make a break in my readings. I am usually always reading something, but after this book I needed a period of no reading in order to digest it well… and some days ago I watched a film by Almodovar that I have never seen before: “Talk to her”. And again I feel that magic realism is around me now :)

These two works made me have a crush on both main characters. The first one was Cayetano Delaura, the tormented priest that fell in love with a 12 years old marquise, and then Benancio, the carer that made love to the girl in coma, he’s looking after. Under these brief and cold descriptions Cayetano would be a pederast and Benancio a rapist.

Those are terrible labels for my heroes, aren’t they?

But if we look closer into those characters, they are so further far away from these tags, and that make me think of the other face of the coin or the other side of the mirror, that we all have…

Estoy posteando aquí una de mis primeras pinturas… “Alicia frente al espejo” es de cuando yo solía pintar solo con pasteles. La posteo ahora porque quisiera hablar del otro lado del espejo…

Sí, recientemente tuve la necesidad de experimentar el realismo mágico… el maravilloso libro que leí de García Márquez me forzó a hacer una pausa en mis lecturas. Usualmente leo siempre un libro tras otro, pero después de este libro necesité de un periodo de no lectura para poderlo digerir bien… y hace algunos días tuve la oportunidad de leer un film de Almodovar que nunca antes había visto: “Habla con ella”. Y otra vez me sentí rodeada por el realismo mágico :)

Tremendas etiquetas para mi heroes, o no?

Estas dos obras hicieron que quedase yo prendada de los dos personajes principales: El primero fue Cayetano Delaura, el cura atormentado que se enamora de la marquesa de apenas 12 años de edad, y desepués de Benancio, el enfermero que hace el amor con la paciente en coma que está a su cargo. Bajo estas dos breves y crudas descripciones Cayetano vendría a ser un pederasta y Benancio un violador.

Pero si miramos más de cerca a esos personajes, ellos se encuentran tan tan lejos de esas descripciones, y eso me hace pensar en el otro lado de la moneda o el otro lado del espejo que todos nosotros tenemos…

Gabriel García Márquez fictitious personifications are so strong that they are writhing inside my head...

I have fell deeply in love with these characters. And what do I do when I fall in love with someone?
I paint it :)
so here is the first painting I have made. The character is the tormented and fascinating Cayetano Delaura from "Of Love and Other Demons"...

I have to thank my daughter, because being her so touched after reading “One hundred years of Solitude”, made me realized that I haven’t read García Márquez since I was a young girl too.

So I went to the library and picked up the first book I found. I devoured it : )

Sometimes my life is flat, I get immersed in everyday routine and definitely reading such a book made me feel inspired again. I found subjects that have questioned my whole life like craziness, love, myths, obsessions, reality, wonderland…

The last exhibition I visited, the one at the Royal Academy gave me the opportunity to experience fantastic paintings, and although I for sure cannot demerit those artists' virtuosism, the most important thing I noticed in those paintings was this quality that makes a painting be so alive for ever: inspiration. Many times I have lacked inspiration and I have asked myself so many times what can I do to get the muse visit me again… serendipity brought me this book, and I am so thankful.

But I wanted to talk about the book : ) García Márquez is a master describing that 18^th century world full of superstitions, the characters he creates are so baroque fascinating, that they wriggle still inside my head.

If somebody has once being deeply in love, it is well known that love and madness are very much alike, because we do things we will never do with a rational state of mind, yes, love is like being possessed and this novel describes the feeling better than any other book I have ever read. Of course it didn’t answer any of the many questions it arise, it even makes them bigger, isn’t that brilliant?

An unforgettable book!

Tengo que agradecerle a mi hija, porque se conmovió tanto después de leer "Cien Años de Soledad", que me hizo darme cuenta que yo no había leído a García Márquez desde que yo era jovencita también.

Así que fuí a la biblioteca y tomé le primer libro de él que encontré. Lo devoré!

Algunas veces mi vida es plana, me sumerjo en las rutina diaria y definitivamente el leer este libro me volvió a inspirar de nuevo. Reencontré aquí temas que han cuestionado mi vida entera como el amor, la locura, los mitos, obsesiones, lo real, lo irreal...

La última exhibición a la que asistí, aquella de la Royal Academy me dió la oportunidad de observar pinturas fantásticas, y aunque claro no puedo dejar de demeritar el virtuosismo de estos artistas, lo que más me impactó de estos cuadros fue esa cualidad que hace que un cuadro lo encontremos tan vivo: inspiración. Muchas veces me ha faltado la inspiración y muchas veces también me he preguntado qué es lo que debo hacer para que la musa me visite de nuevo... la casualidad me condujo a este libro y me encuentro tan agradecida.

Pero bueno quería hablar del libro :) García Márques es en verdad un maestro describiendo ese mundo del siglo XVIII lleno de supersticiones. los personajes creados por el son tan barrocamente fascinantes, que aún juguetean dentro de mi cabeza.

Si alguién alguna vez ha estado profundamente enamorado, tendrá que reconocer que el amor y la locura se parecen mucho, porque podemos hacer cosas que jamás haríamos en un estado racional de la mente, sí, el amor es como estar poseido, y esta novela consigue describir este sentimiento de una manera tal como ningún otro libro que haya leído yo lo ha logrado. Por supuesto que no contesta ninguna de las muchas preguntas que plantea, pero eso es lo maravilloso de esto, o no?

Un libro inolvidable.

I have received very good news... and when I am happy I paint and paint and paint...so today I finished my first painting of some I have already started... I was surprised to see that it has a pink shade, because Pink is not a colour I use in my palette... anyway!

Last weekend we were invited to dinner. A very good Italian friend has cooked for us. The dinner was real simple: some roasted aubergines, stuffed tomatoes and potatoes… but the flavour! Incredible that something that simple could taste that good.
But the cooker was Italian and they do have a special taste for everything. The whole evening was incredible, not only the food, but the wine, the chat, the jokes, and at the end an amazing tea ceremony! (for me, who loves rituals)

After enjoying this great evening I realized that I am very lucky because I have very good Italian friends. I know that not all Italians are like that… but I am very fortunate to have found maybe some of the best persons in Italy. Thanks to these friends I have been able to go deeper into the Italian Culture, that is in fact sooo rich, and the truth is the more I know about Italy, the hungrier I become. I love the Italian way to be, to flirt, to enjoy life, to be passionate about everything: nature, culture, art, food, wine… To be so proud of their identity and that enchanting way they have to talk with the hands and the gestures they do, the way they move their flirting faces and just to listen that beautiful musical language… I am in love with Italy, that is the truth.

Some of these Italian friends have even showed me how to enjoy London better, introducing me to some jewels in London and making my European experience here more joyful.

I want to thank all my Italian friends here for all the things they have done for me. I am posting some pics here of those unforgettable moments I have shared with them.
Italy is (like F… will say) definitively my cup of tea!

La semana pasada fuimos invitados a cenar. Un gran amigo Italiano cocinó para nosotros. La comida era realmente simple: unas berenjenas asadas, tomates rellenos al horno y patatas… pero qué sabor! Incredible que algo tan sencillo pudiese saber tan bien.

Pero es que el cocinero era Italiano y ellos tienen un gusto tan especial por todo. Toda la velada fue increíble, no solo la comida, sino el vino, la charla, los chistes y al final terminó con una maravillosa ceremonia de té (a mi que me encantan los rituales)

Después de disfrutar esta gran velada, caí en cuenta que soy muy afortunada porque tengo en verdad muy Buenos amigos Italianos. Yo sé que no todos los Italianos son así... pero yo he sido muy afortunada de haber encontrado algunos de los mejores seres en Italia.
Gracias a estos amigos, he podido ir más hondo en la cultura Italiana, que además es tan tan rica, y la verdad es que entre más conozco Italia, me vuelvo más voraz! Adoro la manera de ser Italiana, de disfrutar la vida, de coquetearle, de apasionarse por todo: naturaleza, cultura, arte, comida, vino… de estar tan orgullosos de su identidad y esa encantadora manera que tienen de hablar con las manos y los gestos que hacen, la manera que mueven sus rostros coquetos y pues solo escuchar ese idioma tan hermoso y musical que tienen… Sí, amo Italia, esa es la verdad.

Quiero en este post darle las gracias a todos mis amigos Italianos por las cosas que han hecho por mi. Posteo aquí algunos de esos momentos inolvidables que he pasado con ellos. Italia es (como dice F…) definitivamente mi copa de té!

I am looking forward for this weekend.

Saturday we are planning a promenade through Regent Canal during the day and then I was invited to a party, in which in order to go in you have to bring your favourite poem. So, I cannot wait anymore because I do need an evening surrounded by poetry :)))

And on Sunday the celebration of the Tiger year in Soho will take place... it has been snowing (a thing that always enchants me) hence this beautiful painting of a Tiger under snow by Hokusai comes ad hoc to my post.

My favourite poem is Ithaca by K.Kavafis, but our host is Greek and he wanted to get to know new poems, so I will bring my Ithaca and my second favourite poem which is Tactic and Strategy by M. Benedetti:

When you set out on your journey to Ithaca, pray that the road is long, full of adventure, full of knowledge. The Lestrygonians and the Cyclops, the angry Poseidon -- do not fear them: You will never find such as these on your path, if your thoughts remain lofty, if a fine emotion touches your spirit and your body. The Lestrygonians and the Cyclops, the fierce Poseidon you will never encounter, if you do not carry them within your soul, if your soul does not set them up before you.

Espero ansiosa este fin de semana.

El sábado está planeado un paseo a lo largo de Regent canal y por la noche fuí invitada a una fiesta, cuyo requisito para entrar es traer nuestro poema favorito :) así que no puedo esperar pues hace tiempo que necesito una noche rodeada de poesía :))))

Y el domingo tendrán lugar los festejos del nuevo año del tigre en el Soho... ha estado nevando (algo que siempre me maravilla) , de ahí que esta hermosa pintura de Hokusai del Tigre bajo la nieve queda en verdad ad hoc.

Mi poema favorito es Ítaca de Kavafis, pero nuestro anfitrión es Griego y quería ser sorprendido por nuevos poemas, así que además de Ítaca llevaré mi segundo poema favorito que es Táctica y Estrategia de M. Benedetti:

Cuando partas para Itaca, desea que el camino sea largo, rico en peripecias y en experiencias. No temas ni a los Lestrigonos, ni a los Cíclopes, ni a la cólera de Neptuno. No los encontrarás en tu ruta si tus pensamientos son elevados  si tu cuerpo y tu alma no se dejan arrastrar por pensamientos bajos. No encontrarás ni a los Lestrigonos, ni a los Cíclopes ni a la furia de Neptuno, si no los llevas dentro de ti, si tu corazón no te los muestra.

Two shows in Chelsea...

I entered to a figurative competition with these two big oil paintings, and I was just informed that both of my paintings were chosen :)
The exhibition opening will take place on March 18th in Chelsea, London.
And it happens to be just the same location where I have got a Group exhibition with my Gallery: Cadogan Contemporary. My purpose of this year was to focus on London and now I already have two exhibitions :)

Participé en un concurso de pintura figurativa con estos dos grandes óleos, y acaban de informarme que ambos cuadros fueron seleccionados :)
Así que la Vernissage tendrá lugar el 18 de Marzo en Chelsea, Londres.
Que curiosamente es también la zona donde participo en una exposición colectiva de mi galería: Cadogan Contemporary. El propósito de este año era enfocarme a Londres y ahora ya tengo dos exposiciones :)

Yesterday was one of the best days in my life. We went to see the exhibition: "The Real Van Gogh, the artist and his letters" at the Royal Academy. An amazing exhibition of original Van Gogh paintings and his original letters to Theo and other of his friends.

I understand again why when I was very young and I had the chance to go to Amsterdam I really didn't get to know that city at all; it was because I had booked a hotel there for 3 days: the first day I was going to visit the Van Gogh's Museum, the second day the Ryjksmuseum and the third was for touring around the city... but what happened? The first day I went to Van Gogh's museum, the second to Van Gogh's and the third to Van Gogh's :)

Seeing the real van Gogh's is impossible to describe. What I can say is that the prints of his paintings have nothing to do with the real stuff. Vincent paintings are so ALIFE, you feel them when you are there, they irradiate something that eyes alone cannot catch. That's why when we see the print of the painting we loved so much, it doesn't matter how good is the print... we found that it is death, void... we cannot compare it at all with the real painting.

The exhibition is amazing; originals were brought from Amsterdam, Zürich, the Moma, the Metropolitan, the National Gallery in Washington, etc. etc. It is a fantastic collection and it si so well curated. We can "see" how Van Gogh started and all his tenacity breaking down obstacles in order to convert himself in that genius so admired nowadays. He was such a sensitive soul and such a cultivated man who could speak fluently 4 languages... but the thing that surprises me the most is the boundless joy that every one of his paintigs radiate....

Now I am still dreaming of Vincent :)

Ayer fue uno de los mejores días de mi vida. Fuimos a ver la exposición: "El verdadero Van Gogh, el artista y sus cartas" en la Royal Academy. Una exposición espectacular de pinturas originales y las cartas que el escribía a Teo y a sus otros amigos.

De nuevo caigo en cuenta por qué cuando era muy joven y tuve la oportunidad de conocer Amsterdam, no conocí para nada esa ciudad; sí, había reservado un hotel por 3 días: el primero pensaba dedicarlo a visitar el Museo de Van Gogh, el segundo para ir al Ryjks y el tercero era para pasear por la ciudad... pero qué pasó? El primer día fuí al museo de Van Gogh, el segundo al museo de Van Gogh y el tercero al museo de Van Gogh :)

Ver los Van Goghs originales es algo imposible de describir. Lo que sí puedo decir es que las imágenes que vemos impresas de sus cuadros no tienen nada que ver con los originales. Los cuadros de Vincent están tan VIVOS, uno los siente cuando está ahí, irradian algo que los ojos solos no pueden captar. Por eso cuando una vuelve a ver la imagen impresa del cuadro que tanto te conmovió, no importa lo buena que sea la imagen... pero encontramos subitamente que esa imagen no tiene nada que ver con el original, está muerta, vacía....

La exposición es increíble; pinturas originales fueron traídas de Amsterdam, Zürich, el Moma, el Metropolitan, la National Gallery en Washington, etc. etc. Es una colección fantástica y está tan bien curada. Podemos "ver" el comienzo de Van Gogh como pintor y toda esa tenacidad derrumbando obstáculos para convertirse en ese genio ahora tan admirado por todos. Era una alma tan sesible y un hombre tan letrado que podía hablar fluido 4 idiomas... pero lo que más me sorprende de todo es la alegría avallasadora que cada una de sus pinturas irradia...

Aún sigo soñando con Vincent :)

White Xmas in London

This is going to be our very first WHITE Christmas! We happen to live just in front of Clissold Park and when we saw through the window how beautiful white everything was, we took our bikes and went to the park. We saw dogs playing and hiding themselves in the snow... the children, the snowmen, the deers! everybody was happy and one of the things I enjoyed the most was to see the ducks slipping over the frozen pond.
What a wonderful day was this winter solstice!!!

All this year I was struggling to get a studio in London. I needed a place in which I can make oils.
I was offered some places but with the condition of being a "clean" artist, that means not to use oil because it smells. Finally we moved to a bigger flat and I decided to make my studio at home. Here I can paint in the media I want.
And? After longing for so long for oil paintings... I am making watercolors! Is it something intrinsic to a painter, to be so irrational?

Yesterday I had a weird dream. I dream I have found my hand. This hand was separated of me... but I wasn't shocked due to this fact but to the fact that the hand, my hand was very ugly. So I took a look to my hand, the one that is of course bond to my body and I was shocked to see it was just as ugly as the hand that was alone... does this has anything to do with what I am experiencing nowadays?

Todo este año he luchado por conseguir un estudio en Londres. Necesitaba un espacio en el cual pudiera pintar óleo. Me ofrecieron algunos espacios con la condición de ser un artista "limpio", eso significa no usar óleo por el olor. Finalmente decidí tener mi estudio en casa, aquí puedo pintar en el material que me dé la gana. Y? Después de desear por tanto tiempo pintar al óleo ... estoy haciendo acuarelas! Será algo común de los pintores ser tan irracional?

Ayer tuve un sueño muy extraño. Soñé que encontraba mi mano. sta mano era un objeto separado de mi... pero yo no estaba consternada por esto sino por el hecho que la mano, mi mano era muy fea. Entonces decidí mirar mi mano, la que tengo pegada a mi cuerpo y mi consternación fue el percatar que esa mano era igual de fea a aquella que estaba sola... tendrá esto algo que ver con lo que me pasa ahora?

Visiting Anish Kapoor exhibition at the Royal Academia of Arts is like traveling to another world.

First of all, you feel like a child, you have the urge to touch everything! Of course it is not possible because all the sculptures are very fragile, but it put you into an anxiety state because the longing of getting inside the wax, or to jump and throw yourself into some objects is indeed very strong. Well at least it was on me... Of course I have to accept that I am very impulsive :)

So it transports you through time, because you feel childish and happy... some objects seems mathematic layouts that definitively are playing with TIME, like "Hive", which looks like a time machine that will hoover you into another dimension. "It is an object that forms itself as a skin" and "emphasize inside and ouside: Courbet's L'Origine du monde". Besides "Hive" that I think was the piece that impressed me the most... I loved the mirror room, and above all the big mirror, which I don't know how but reflects your image several times, distortions it, puts it upside down and even plays with the perspective we all have of front and faraway plans and sizes. Is this maybe an allusion to our lives? Vertigo?

Every piece is subject of so many interpretations in a philosophical way too...

Anish Kapoor doesn't need to explain anything, you feel it... I read that he has nothing to say as an artist. "Having something to say implies that one is struggling with the meaning. The role of the artist is in fact that we don't know what to say, and it is that not knowing that leads us to the work."

But the most important thing for me is that I was around 2 1/2 hours there and all the time I was smiling. I have to come back with my kids in spite of the ticket cost :( This exhibition is hilarious!

Visitar la exposición de Anish Kapoor en la Royal Academy of Arts es como viajar a otro mundo.

Primero que todo te sientes como un niño, tienes la imperiosa necesidad de tocar todo! Por supuesto no es posible pues todas las piezas son muy frágiles, pero te pone un un estado de ansiedad inmenso pues las ganas de embarrarte con cera, o de brincar y lanzarte dentro de algunos objetos es muy muy intensa. Bueno, al menos lo fue para mi... aunque claro que debo reconocer que soy una persona muy impulsiva :)

Te transporta a través del tiempo, porque te sientes feliz e infantil... algunos objetos de plano hacen la referencia a planos matemáticos que definitivamente juegan con el Tiempo, como es el caso de "Colmena", que me dió la impresión de ser una maquina del tiempo que te succiona a otra dimensión. "Es un objeto que se forma a si mismo como una piel, enfatizando interior y exterior como l'Origin du Monde de Courbet". Además de "Colmena" que a mi en lo particular fue la pieza que me gustó más, me encantó la sala con espejos y sobretodo el espejo grande que no sé en qué manera pero refleja tu imagen muchas veces, la distorsiona, la pone cabeza abajo y aún juega con la idea de perspectiva que tenemos todos de lejos y cerca y los tamaños respectivos. Quizás sea una alusión a nuestras vidas? Vértigo?

Cada pieza puede ser sujeta de tantas interpretaciones, filosóficas también...

Anish Kapoor no necesita explicar nada, tu lo sientes... leí que el no tiene que decir nada como artista, pues tener que decir algo es tener que lidear con su sugnificado. "El rol del artista es de hecho que no tenemos nada que decir y ese no saber nos lleva a la creación."

Pero lo más importante para mi fue que estuve dos horas y media ahí y todo el tiempo no pude dejar de sonreir! Tengo que regresar con mis hijos a verla, a pesar del coste del billeto. Esta exposición es divertida en verdad.

These Autumn days I have been overwhelmed by the beauty of some trees. I should admit that I really have a passion for trees... I have made a B.A. in Architecture, but as soon as I could I worked doing something else. Architecture was never my passion but maybe if I had linked Architecture and Trees, if I had studied Landscape Architecture my story would be different...

Anyway I don't regret it because now I am a painter!

Today I made a sketch of a fantastic thin tree, the trunk and branches were ebony black and the few orange leaves that still remain looked like shivering butterflies... it was a long time that I haven't experience anything prettier.

The tree I saw today was very much like Schiele's tree. Therefore I posted that fantastic painting here.

And now I would like to write briefly about love... Yesterday I read a very complex and interesting essay from V. about love: Del Amor
and in one of the comments "Iluminaciones" wrote about a painter that paint in order to be loved. I think that is truth in my case too. I paint in order to be loved, and even most important to be able to love too.
I realized it now, when I saw that tree. All these months I could not paint I was also not loved, and I didn't love either, I was blind to see the beauty... it is strange.

Estos días de Otoño me ha arrebatado la belleza de ciertos árboles. Debo quizás admitir que en verdad tengo una pasión por los árboles... Yo hice una licenciatura en Arquitectura, y en cuanto pude trabajé en algo distinto. La Arquitectura nunca me apasionó pero pienso que si hubiese ligado la Arquitectura con los Árboles, si hubiese en ese entonces estudiado Arquitectura del Paisaje, mi historia hubiese sido distinta...

Sin embargo no me arrepiento porque ahora soy pintora!

Hoy hice un boceto de un maravilloso árbol delgadito, el tronco y las ramas eran de un negro ebano y las bocas hojas naranjas que aún quedaban asemejaban mariposas temblorosas... hacía mucho mucho tiempo que no había yo visto algo más bonito.

El árbol de hoy se parece mucho al árbol de Schiele. De ahí que haya posteado aquí esa maravillosa pintura.

Y ahora quisiera escribir brevemente sobre al amor... Ayer leí un ensayo muy interesante y complejo escrito por V. sobre el amor: Del amor

y en uno de los comentarios "Iluminaciones" mencionaba a un pintor que pintaba para ser amado. Creo que ese es mi caso también. Yo pinto para ser amada y aún más importante para poder amar también.
Me dí cuenta de eso hoy, al ver ese árbol. Todos esos meses que no pude pintar, no era amada, ni tampoco podía amar. Estaba ciega a la belleza... es extraño

My London Studio

I finally have finished to set up my small studio at home. It is very small and it won't allowed me to do the big canvases I enjoyed so much to do (as in Ireland), but it is a start. I have to realized that it is not easy to change country, here I am starting and I must be humble. Although it is very small it is very cozy and has a fantastic view, because just in front of my place there is a wonderful park with pond, castle and even deers :)

The only thing that still worries me about painting in my own place besides the smell, is that I would have to be clean. Don't misunderstand me, I am a clean person, my children even say that I am a bit of neat freak :))) but absolutely not when I am painting... when I paint I forgot everything that is around me and I know I finished with paint on my hair, my face and all the place around it! I think I will have to cover the place with plastic each time I start having fun :)

O debería mejor decir mi "diminuto" estudio en Londres :)

Finalmente terminé de instaler mi estudio en casa. Es muy pequeño y no me permitirá el disfrute de pintar los grandes lienzos a los que estaba acostumbrada (como en Irlanda), pero es ya un inicio. Debo ya aceptar que no es fácil cambiar de país, aquí estoy empezando y debo ser humilde.

Sin embargo a pesar de ser muy pequeño es muy acogedor y tiene una vista fantástica de un parque divino con estanque, castillo y hasta venados :)

Lo único que aún mi preocupa de pintar en mi propio espacio, es además del olor, que tendré que ser limpia. No me malinterpreten, soy limpia, mis hijos exageran y hasta dicen que soy una maniática de la limpieza :))) pero eso absolutamente no es el caso cuando pinto... cuando pinto me olvido de todo lo que está a mi alrededor y sé que termino con pintura en el pelo, la cara y hasta en los sitios más recónditos aparece pintura. Creo que definitivamente tendré que cubrir el sitio con plástico cada vez que empiece la función :)

Life Drawing

I am now one of the members of the Hesketh Hubbard Art Society, and I am starting to make life drawing again. It feels sooo good.
Life Drawing is in my opinion one of the most pleasant things a human being can do, it is very different from Painting.
Painting is such a huge art... (and of course is relative, yet not always is art) but you are creating and that has to deal with a huge amount of challenge and yes, sometimes you suffer. But in Life drawing you only have "to grasp" what is in front of your eyes... it is therefore more relaxing, less pretentious, it is a meditation that could take you to a great level of Mindfulness, of time, of space, of the present...

Soy miembro ahora de la Hesketh Hubbard Art Society, y estoy empezando a dibujar con modelo de nuevo. Se siente taaan bien.
El dibujo con modelo es en mi opinión una de las actividades que más placer nos pueden dar. Es muy diferente de pintar.
Pintar es un arte enorme... (y es claro relativo, ya que no siempre es arte) pero uno ahí está creando y se tiene entonces un reto enorme y sí, también a veces se sufre. Pero al dibujar con modelo uno solo tiene que "cachar" lo que está frente a nuestros ojos... y de ahí que sea mucho más relajante, mucho menos pretencioso, sí es una meditación que nos puede llevar a un gran nivel de consciencia de uno mismo, del tiempo, del espacio, del presente...

Connected

Finalmente ya estoy conectada! Sí recién nos instalaron internet y teléfono y ya puedo de nuevo postear y escribir a los amigos lontanos que extraño tanto.
Y mi conexión es en todos los aspectos ya que finalmente después de muchos meses de total inactividad artística (sentía que moría) ya por fin retomé los pinceles y eso me da vida de nuevo!

Finally I am connected! Yes, Internet and phone was just installed in the new flat and now I am able to post and write to the faraway friends who are so much missed.
And my connection is in all senses, because after many months of art inactivity (I feel I was dying) I was recently able to pick up the brushes again, I am again alife!

Sometimes I feel very blue because now I cannot paint...
But today looking at those pics of Rome, I found an image of a very inspiring scene. Yes, sometimes at the bottom of a hole... when you less expected... you may find even a GLOW.

My travel to Italy gave me strength. I have wonderful friends there… this was a travel I need, to keep on going on until I find again a light :)

Algunas veces suelo sentirme muy triste porque no puedo aún pintar...
Pero hoy mirando algunas de las fotos de Roma, encontré una imágen de una escena muy inspiradora. Sí, algunas veces en el fondo de un agujero... cuando menos lo esperamos... podemos incluso encontrar una luz.

Mi viaje a Italia me dió fueras. Tengo amigos maravillosos allá... éste fue un viaje que yo necesitaba, para poder segir adelante hasta que encuentre de nuevo una luz :)

Bernini vs. Borromini

Here I am in front of the 4 River Fountain at Piazza Navona. In my opinion this is the most beautiful piazza in the whole world. Here the 2 greatest baroque architects will continue their dispute till the final battleground.
It is said that the Bernini sculpture facing Borromini's facade has a lifted arm in order to support the church when it falls down and at the same time is horrified by the facade. Borromini's church was constructed after Bernini's fountain, so the whole story was build up. But their hostility was not and this piazza will always be to remind it us.
Sometimes I think how important it is to be competitive as an artist. It was said that Bernini nominated Borromini as architect for the proposed church of S. Carlo alle Quattro Fontane to be rid of him at S. Pietro. And the result was Borromini's master piece!!!
Being an artist is a very introspective work, but artists have the need of seeing what others are doing. I have just finished reading Giacometti's biography and the book speaks of this fact.
In my case, as a painter I do miss my chats with my painter friends. Although I always loved to be on my own working. Yes, I need to face my demons alone... but I do miss those art chats. It is always very fulfilling to share with others our passion.
I miss my painter friends... I missed them very much.

Aquí estoy en frente de la fuente de los 4 ríos en Plaza Navona. En mi opinión esta es la plaza más hermosa del mundo. Aquí los dos más grandes arquitectos del barroco continuan su disputa hasta el final de los días.
Se dice que la escultura de Bernini que está frente a la iglesia de Borromini tiene el brazo alzado para sostenerla cuando se caiga y al mismo tiempo está horrorizado ante la fachada. La iglesia de Borromini se construyó después que la fuente por lo que la historia es puro invento. Pero la hostilidad de estos dos grandes no lo fue y esta plaza está para recordarnoslo.
Algunas veces pienso de la importancia de ser competitivo como artista. Se dice también que Bernini postuló a Borromini para el encargo de la iglesia de San Carlini, pues de esta manera se deshacía de el en S. Pedro. Y el resultado fue la obra maestra de Borromini!!!
Ser un artista es un trabajo muy introspectivo, pero los artistas tienen necesidad de ver lo que los otros están haciendo. Hace poco terminé de leer la biografía de Giacometti y el libro habla de este hecho.
En mi caso, como pintora extraño muchísimo las charlas que tenía con mis amigos pintores. A pesar que es requisito para mi estar sola para trabajar. Sí tengo necesidad de enfrentarme yo sola a mis demonios... pero sí que también extraño esas charlas sobre arte. Es muy enriquecedor charlar con otra persona que comparta tu misma pasión. Extraño a mis amigos pintores, los extraño muchísimo.

This is the city I like the most. I do think that Brunelleschi's Duomo is the most beautiful Duomo in the whole world... Words are not enough to describe the emotion I have felt being again here...
The sunflowers pic belong really to San Sepolcro, but as it is Tuscany I wanted to post it here...

Esta es sin duda la ciudad que más me gusta. Para mi el duomo de Bruneleschi es el más hermoso del mundo... Las palabras no son suficientes para describir la emoción que sentí de estar ahí de nuevo...
La foto de los girasoles pertenece en realidad a San Sepolcro, pero como es Toscana quise postearla aquí...

This was my first time in Milan. Some Italian friends have told me it wasn't worth. But I think that il Duomo and the Castello Sforzesco, where I have seen Michel Angelo's last Pietá worth the trip to that city.

Oxford

When I was a teenager I took a Summer course in Oxford... now, almost 30 years later I come back with my children and friends.
Oxford is so beautiful, like a fairy tale, although my son is right. Cambridge is even more charming, we were there some days later and it was like traveling back on time.

Cuando era adolescente tuve la oportunidad de hacer un curso de verano en Oxford... ahora, casi 30 años después regreso con mis hijos y amigos.
Oxford es tan hermoso, como un cuento de hadas, aunque mi hijo tiene razón. Cambridge es aún más encantador, estuvimos ahí algunos días después y fue como viajar atrás en el tiempo.

Was this the most beautiful day of my life? Some time ago I translated an essay written by Antonio Zopetti: The most beautiful day of your life. May be it was one of those days... we were queuing since 5:45 AM... of course we were thinking it would be fantastic to be able get tickets and see Jude Law as Hamlet...but, it was much more than we have expected.
He is a HUGE actor, I have no words.... the scenography was so minimalistic... the whole was based on acting. The work of art lasted 3 hours... again, no words for that.

Fue acaso este uno de los días más hermosos que he tenido en mi vida? Hace algún tiempo traduje un texto de Antonio Zopetti: El día más hermoso de tu vida. Quizás éste fue uno de esos días... estábamos haciendo cola desde las 5:45 AM.... porque por supuesto pensábamos que sería maravilloso encontrar boletos y ver a Jude Lawe como Hamlet... pero, fue mucho más de lo que todas esperábamos.

One of my best friends is visiting me here in London with her 2 daughters.

With her I always share unforgettable and funny stories... this time this happened just the day when she arrived.

We were sitting in the tube traveling from Heathrow and she was asking me many questions, about my Art life here, about my last exhibition in Dublin, etc. Suddenly she told me: Have you seen this incredible handsome guy sitting in front of us? I took a quick glance and in front of me was a very insipid blond. I was quite surprised by her taste when suddenly just beside him I saw an incredible attractive man, very tall, dark, black hair, black eyes, amazing body. He was so perfect and charming that I was wordless. She asked her daughters (18 and 20 years old) if they have seen him, we all nodded speechless...
So, after some minutes she broke the silence:
- Odette, you should tell him that you are an artist and he could work for you as a model!
- Oh, don't be silly...
- Why not? Imagine the inspiration you will get from him?

I nodded.

- Odette, have you seen those arms?

I nodded.

- Girls, have you seen those arms, those pectorals?

We all nodded.

- Odette imagine him posing for you nude in front of you?

I nodded and then I told her:

- Hey, watch out, here we must be careful, in London so many strangers assumed that the language spoken here is English, but here is such a melting pot! You have not idea the kind of private chats I have listened in other languages while I am traveling... just imagine if he could understand Spanish...that will be sooo embarrassing.

And just when I have said that, I noticed that the handsome man move the corner of his mouth slightly upwards.

- Oh Gosh... I am afraid he is understanding!
- Oh no, he should be Arab. Or where do you think he might come from?
- I think he might be Italian...

Again he smiled slightly.
So I could not wait anymore and asked him:

- You do understand Spanish? Don't you?

This time he was the one that nodded.

I fell my face burning and when I looked at my girl friends they three were all blushing.

- May I ask you where are you from?
- "Madrid" and he gave me a huge smile.

Again I was wordless...

Una de mis mejores amigas está de visita en Londres con sus dos lindas hijas.

Con ella siempre he compartido anécdotas maravillosas y chistosas... en esta ocasión la primera anécdota pasó justo el día de su llegada.

Estábamos todas sentadas en fila dentro del metro viajando del aeropuerto de Heathrow, y ella me estaba haciendo muchas preguntas sobre mi vida artística aquí, sobre mi exposición en Dublin, etc. De pronto me dijo: Ya viste esa maravilla de hombre que está sentado justo enfrente de nosotras? Dí una ojeada rápida y frente a mi estaba el típico rubio soso. Me sorprendí mucho por el gusto de mi amiga cuando de pronto justo sentado a su lado estaba un hombre de unos 30 años increíblemente atractivo. Muy alto, moreno, pelo y ojos oscuros, con un cuerpo maravilloso. Era tan perfecto y a la vez sexy que me quedé sin palabras. Ella le preguntó a sus hijas de 18 y 20 años de edad si lo habían visto, y todas asentimos y nos quedamos mudas...solo mirando...

Así, después de unos minutos ella rompió el silencio:
- Odette, deberías decirle que eres pintora y que te gustaría que el trabajase para ti como modelo.
- Oh, no digas tonterías...
- Por qué no? Imagina la inspiración que te llegaría de el!

Asentí.

- Odette, ya viste esos brazos?

Asentí.

- Niñas, ya vieron esos brazos? Esos pectorales?

Todas asentimos.

- Odette solo imagínatelo posando para ti desnudo frente a ti?

De nuevo asentí y entonces le dije:

- Hey, aquí tenemos que tener cuidado, siempre en Londres los extranjeros asumen que la lengua que se habla aquí es el inglés, pero aquí es un crisol de todas las culturas! No tienes idea la cantidad de conversaciones privadas que he escuchado en otros idiomas mientras viajo en transporte público... sólo figúrate que el entendiera Español. Imáginate qué oso!

Y justo cuando terminé de decir eso, noté como las comisuras de los labios del hermoso moreno se curvaban ligeramente hacia arriba.

- Oh Dios! ... Creo que nos está entendiendo!
- Oh no, el debe ser Árabe. O de dónde crees que viene?
- Según yo es Italiano...

De nuevo el sonrió ligeramente.
Así que no me pude contener y le pregunté:
- Entiendes Español, verdad?

Esta vez fue el, el que asentió.

Sentí de pronto que mi rostro ardía y al ver a mis amigas ví que las tres estaban todas rojas rojas.

- Puedo preguntarte de dónde eres?
- "Madrid" Y me regaló esta vez una amplia sonrisa.

De nuevo me quedé sin palabras...

Dublin Opening Summary

I am back in London… the experience of exhibiting in Dublin was very fulfilling. The Urban Retreat gallery looks fantastic. It is located at the Ringsend and Grand Canal Dock, a place where the old and new Dublin collide. Daniel Libeskind theather is just in front and the U2 tower will be located in this area too. Local residents include Colin Farrell, the actor, Paul Durcan, the poet, and the current Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and Green Party leader, John Gormley.

The opening was crowded. Critic and press were all favorable.

I was very happy and impressed. The curatorial work was great. There was a plasma screen inside the gallery that was showing all the time views of Cill Rialaig, the inspiring place where I have made my paintings.
And something that I liked very much too, is that when the gallery is closed during night, there is a projector that is showing outside the gallery window images of my paintings. So people that are in all those fancy restaurants around might see what kind of work is in the gallery and come back during working hours.

The exhibition will be there at Hanover Quay until June 21st, 2009.

Ya regresé a Londres… la experiencia es exponer en Dublin fue muy gratificante. La galería Urban Retreat se ve maravillosa. Está localizada en la zona del Ringsend y el muelle del Gran Canal, un lugar donde el viejo y nuevo Dublin chocan. El teatro del Arq. Daniel Libeskind está justo al lado y la torre U2 de Foster estará localizada en esta area también. Entre los residents de esta zona están Colin Farrell, el actor, Paul Durcan , el poeta, y el actual ministro y lider del parido verde John Gormley.

La inauguración congregó mucha gente. La crítica y la prensa fueron favorables.

Yo estaba muy feliz e impresionada. La curaduría estaba bárbara. Había una pantalla de plasma dentro de la galería que mostraba las vistas de Cill Rialaig, el lugar que me inspiró a hacer estas pinturas.
Y algo que me agradó mucho también fue que cuando la galería cierra durante la noche, hay un proyector sobre la cortina externa de la galería que muestra imágenes de mis pinturas, de manera tal que las personas que van a los restaurants de los alrededores pueden dares cuenta de lo que se está exhibiendo en la galería y regresar en el horario en el cual está abierta.

La exposición seguirá ahí, en Hanover Quay hasta Junio 21 del 2009.

My first Mother day in Britain was lovely. Many Flowers, a beautiful promenade around a "sunny" London including Camden Town and the canal and of course many hugs of my children... I decided to post a very old pic when they were my babies... definitively the actual picture is happier :)

Dublin... Painting 1

The opening of my Solo Exhibition in Dublin will take place on May 21st, 2009. The Gallery is doing almost everything... I have only sent a press essay to Irish Arts Review Magazine and of course I cannot avoid being anxious, because this exhibition means so much for me. Since the first time I exhibit in Ireland my goal was Dublin... due to many reasons but the main one is that a part of my roots come from that small and enchanting European capital.
Thus I decided to start showing the paintings I will exhibit there. This one is called: "First Day", because the day I arrived in Cill Rialaig was at the middle of the night, I was exhausted after have driving more than 8 hours and being besides lost in the dark of the forest. That day I could hardly see anything because the cottage was surrounded by fog, and I was very afraid of being so far away from everything and maybe quite isolated for the next 6 weeks.

La inauguración de mi exposición individual en Dublin se llevará a cabo el 21 de Mayo del 2009. La Galería está haciendo casi todo... Yo solo envié un comunicado de prensa a la revista Irish Arts Review y no puedo evitar además sentirme ansiosa, porque esta exposición significa mucho para mi. Desde la primera vez que mostré mi obra en Irlanda, mi meta era Dublin... debido a muchas razones, pero la principal es quizás que parte de mis raíces vienen de esa pequeña y encantadora capital Europea.
Así que decidí empezar a mostrar aquí los cuadros que serán exhibidos allá. Éste se llama: "Primer día", porque el día que llegué a Cill Rialaig fue pasada la medianoche, estaba exhausta de haber manejado más de 8 horas y de haberme perdido en la oscuridad del bosque. Ese día apenas se podía ver nada ya que la cabaña estaba rodeada por la niebla, y yo estaba muy temerosa de estar tan lejos de todo y quizás bastante aislada por las siguientes 6 semanas.

After meeting Pablo, I realized how many years have passed! And I looked into my files to see if I have another pic of him. I found the first one, which is from December 1992, Pablo is the small kid that is in front of me...
SOME years have passed since then! Now Pablo (the tall guy from left) is an incredible young man :)

I like very much the first pic I posted here. I look radiant there because although I didn't know yet I was already pregnant with my second child.
Pregnant women have a sparkling sight. One of my friends noticed that I was pregnant because of my eyes! I remember I couldn't believe her, I told her, it's not possible, my baby is only 6 months old...I cannot be pregnant. But she insisted and I made the test, and indeed I was pregnant!

ALGUNOS años han pasado desde entonces! Ahora Pablo (el chico alto de la izquierda) es un sorprendente joven :)

Me gusta muchísimo la primera foto que puse aquí. Me veo radiante porque aunque en ese entonces yo aún no lo sabía estaba ya embarazada de mi segundo hijo.
Las mujeres encintas tienen una mirada centelleante. Una de mis amigas notó que estaba embarazada solo por mi mirada! Recuerdo que no le creía, le decía, pero no es posible mi primer bebé apenas tiene 6 meses... Pero ella insistió y me hice la prueba, y sí, estaba embarazada!

It was St. George's day and my Italian friend told me he has found a Delikatessen just at Buckingham Palace. Yes, he collected some fungus for me at Green Park. I have never eaten before that class of mushroom and I must confess the taste was good :)

These last days have been special, because I have met with friends from my past. It is strange to find those dear faces in a completely different environment.

I know I have not written here very much lately. The truth is I haven't almost painted and when I don't paint is like if nothing happens for me... But at least I am busy preparing my next solo show in Dublin.

London is an amazing city. I really get pleasure from being here... The trees without leaves look like watercolor paintings, walking along the Thames and seeing the seagulls in another of the things I enjoy most, apart of the fact that my hunger for art has been fulfilled with 3 art fairs: Art London, Watercolor Art Fair and 20/21 International Art Fair. The only thing that was annoying me here is that I haven't found a studio yet, and I realize I am not Odette if I cannot paint! Fortunately the weather is milder and in the meanwhile I was able to paint in my balcony. Here is the first 2009 made in London oil.

London es una ciudad fascinante. Disfruto mucho estando aquí... los árboles sin hojas parecen acuarelas, caminar a lo largo del Támesis es otra de las cosas que más gozo, además que mi hambre por el arte ha sido plenamente saciada gracias a 3 ferias de arte: Art London, Watercolor Art Fair y 20/21 International Art Fair. Lo único que me estaba perturbando mucho es que aún no he podido encontrar un estudio y me doy cuenta que no puedo ser Odette si no puedo pintar! Por fortuna el clima ha mejorado y mientras tanto me las he arreglado para poder pintar en mi balcón. Aquí muestro el primer óleo 2009 hecho en Londres.

A plastic bag

Yesterday London woke up covered with snow... but the city is not prepared and it was a chaos. The tube didn't work, the buses didn't work, most shops were closed, schools, colleges,...
So I convinced my daughter to go to Hampstead Heath, a gorgeous park, and thanks to a plastic bag we had a wonderful time together. Yes, this bag was our sleigh and it was such fun!

Ayer Londres despertó cubierto en nieve... pero la ciudad no está preparada para esto y fue un caos. El metro no funcionó, los autobuses no funcionaron, la mayor parte de las tiendas cerraron, las escuelas, los colleges...
Así que convencí a mi hija de ir a Hampstead Heath, un parque fabuloso, y gracias a una bolsa de plástico pasamos una velada estupenda juntas. Sí, esta bolsa fungió como trineo y fue tan divertido!

Postponed

My solo show in Dublin was postponed. There were some problems at the gallery: invitations were not printed yet, the opener was not yet decided, etc. etc.
Now I breath again, there is always so much stress before a solo show and more when so many things are still missing. It would be nice if the exhibition is shifted to April. I keep fingers crossed for April :)

Mi exposición individual en Dublin se postergó. Hubo algunos problemas en la galería: las invitaciones aún no estaban impresas, el presentador aún no se había decidido, etc. etc.
Respiro de nuevo, siempre hay demasiado stress antes de una muestra individual y más cuando aún tantas cosas faltan. Sería muy bonito si la exhibición la trasladaran para abril. Mantengo mis dedos cruzados por Abril :)

Rothko at Tate

Finally I went to see this exhibition.

It is overwhelming... although I have recently been in many fabulous Art Museums in Europe I wasn't touched in the way this exhibition did.

I know that Rothko's paintings seem to be simple... but they are not. In order to get those colours the painter has managed to put layers and layers of different colours in order to get at the end that unique vibration. Out of the blue I was touched by so many feelings...

This painting: Red on Maroon was the one that impact me the most.

Finalmente fuí a ver esta exposición.

Es abrumadora... a pesar que he estado ultimamente en muchos Museos de arte fabulosos en Europa, no me habían conmovido de la manera en que esta exposición lo hizo.

Sé que las pinturas de Rothkoo parecen ser simples... pero no lo son. Para poder obtener esos colores, el pintor tuve que poner capas y cpas de diferentes colores para poder llegar a esa única vibración final. De pronto me ví sumegida por tantos sentimientos...

Este cuadro: Rojo sobre marrón fue el que más me impactó de todos.

These are the paintings I have done at this art residence...and they will be shown at the castle. All of them are oils on canvas.

Regarding the Irish paintings, there's a reason why I didn't want to show them here...because thanks to those paintings I've got a solo show in a very prestigious gallery in Dublin, and like a bride that doesn't want to show her dress before the wedding, I do want to show the Irish paintings for the very first time in my Solo show, next February.

En referencia a las pinturas Irlandesas, hay una razón por la cual no he querido mostrarlas aquí... y es que gracias a esos cuadros conseguí la exposición individual en una galería muy prestigiosa de Dublin, y como una novia que no quiere mostrar su vestido antes de la boda, yo quiero mostrar las pinturas Irlandesas por primera vez en mi expo individual el próximo mes de Febrero.

I was invited to show the work I have done here at the castle. So of course I accepted... I thought my next exhibition would be the one in Dublin, but out of the blue this one came in, and I am very happy because the Jucar castle is a fantastic place for an exhibition...

I'm in Spain! Starting my new residence in Alcala del Jucar. It is so beautiful too, and it is the opposite of Ireland...it is dry and most of the houses are excavated in the mountain...and it is even colder here :(
I planed to paint watercolors here... but again I have the urge of painting oils, and it is difficult to find art materials here... anyway tomorrow I will go to Albacete and I hope to find everything I need to continue my path...

Estoy en España! Empezando mi residencia artística en Alcala del Jucar. Es tan hermoso también y es totlamente diferente de Irlanda, es árido y la mayoría de las viviendas están excarvadas en la montaña... y es aún más frío :(
Planeaba hacer acuarelas aquí...pero de nuevo me dió el impulso de pintar óleos y es tan dificil aquí encontrar materiales para artistas... por lo que mañana decidí ir a Albacete y espero ahí encontrar todo lo necesario para continuar mi camino...

In short, Cill Rialaig was such a gift! I got to know other fantastic artists, with whom I strolled and partied... my communion with nature was overwhelming and I painted so much due to the amount of inspiration that at the end I finish hanging my paintings from beams as if they were clothes in order to get dried, because there was no more space left :)

En resumen, Cill Rialaig fue El regalo! Conocí e hice amistad con otros magníficos artistas, con los cuales paseaba y festejaba... mi comunión con la naturaleza fue abrumadora y pinté tanto debido a las fuentes de inspiración que al final terminé tendiendo mis pinturas de las vigas, cual si fueran ropas para secarse, porque no había ya ningún espacio más :)

First Day

When I first arrived to Cill Rialaig I was frightened. The cottages are at the end of the world. It was very difficult to arrive there, because it was midnight, most of the signals were in gaelic and I couldn't see almost nothing because it was such a foggy day. I saw no soul around... and I asked myself if I could be able to be there alone for 6 weeks... so this is the first painting I made there...

Cuando recién llegué a Cill Rialaig estaba atemorizada. Las cabañas están en el fin del mundo. Fue muy dificil llegar allá, porque era medianoche, casi todas las señalizaciones estaban en gaélico y casi no podía ver nada por la niebla. No parecía haber un alma ahí...y me pregunté a mi misma si sería capaz de estar ahí sola por 6 semanas... así que éste fue el primer cuadro que pinté.

Back from a dream

My art residence in Cill Rialaig finished.

I could still be there this week, but after 5 weeks of pursuing lambs on my bike (that is fun!), loosing my breath everyday at all hours with that celtic landscape in which words, and even photographs have really nothing to say ... well, the fact is that my only way to catch all that magic was through my paintings...and I ran out of materials...and I didn't know how could I bring all those 25 paintings to Dublin, so I reckoned on a lift that a wonderful Dubliner offered me in his huge van and now I am in Dublin.

This pic is from the Skellig Islands...when I first saw them I was without breath, someone once told me that we can reckon the quality of our life from the moments we have been without breath... in this place I was without breath most of the time, so I just can tell that these 5 weeks in Cill Rialaig were a full life for me... Thanks

Podría aún estar ahí esta semana, pero después de 5 semanas de perseguir ovejas en mi bicicleta (eso sí que es divertido!), perder el aliento todos los días a toda hora con ese paisaje celta en el cual las palabras y aún las fotografías no tienen nada que decir... bueno, el caso es que mi única manera de capturar todo eso era a través de mis pinturas... y pues que se me acaba el material....y no sabía cómo iba yo a poder llevar todos esos 25 cuadros a Dublin, así que aproveché la oportunidad que un encantador Dublinés me ofreció de llevarme hasta Dublin en su enorme van y ahora estoy en Dublin.

Esta foto es de los Skelligs... cuando los ví por primera vez me quedé sin aliento, alguién me dijo alguna vez que podemos contar la calidad de nuestras vida por los momentos en los cuales nos hemos quedado sin aliento... en este lugar yo me he quedado sin aliento casi todo el tiempo, así que puedo decir que estas 5 semanas en Cill Rialaig fueron toda una vida para mi... Gracias

The opening of my show in London was shifted to August 20th... I hope somebody could be there and tell me later how was it? because those days we are going to be in Paris :)
